Editing: Adding Filters to the Clips

After all the research I done about lighting I am now focusing on getting the lighting right through using filters on all my clips. I am aiming for the filters to be the same throughout the whole video.
I started out by, highlighting all of the clips so the filter would be added to them all.
I then played around with the features, decreasing brightness, darkening shadows etc to create the ideal filter. Once the one I had created on the image shown in the box I watched the video a few times to make sure each clip looked how I desired too.
I am happy with how it has turned out, it adds more dimension to the clips and creates a more dystopian, moody theme to the video which I am aiming for.
In feedback I will question them on whether they think that it is suitable, or if they think it could be played around a bit more too make it darker etc.

Editing: Adding Titles

I have added this title at the end, this is a conventional idea that can be found at the end of promotional music videos. I have opted for a simple/plain text that is easy to read. I will get feedback on this in my focus group and see about making it more to Bon Iver's style - handwritten.
As I am short on footage it might be a little long so I will also get feedback on that. Once I have gotten feedback I will decide a course of action.

Editing: Adding & Editing Sound

I have now added the track to my music video. I am happy with how the narrative relates and what clips show on parts of music. In my focus group which I will be doing soon I am going to see if the narrative is clear enough to someone whom doesn't already know it. Although, if it isn't clear it won't be a problem, as Bon Iver's existing music video narratives aren't always linked with the music video.
Next, as the song is 2 minutes and 40 seconds I'm going to see about adding text at the end of the video, to advertise the EP as that is a convention of music videos - to promote the album/EP.
I also roughly started to fade out the music for a more softer finish. I didn't want the finish to just be abrupt but more drawn out to suit the narrative.
As I have decided not to make it a video where there would be lip syncing other than finishing up at the end the fading of the music there is no more work to be done for sound.

Editing: Cutting More Footage

Although I am wary of cutting too much footage because of the length of the song compared to the length of the footage I have I want only good quality footage therefore, after watching it through with transitions and speed changes etc I decided to cut some clips that don't go well with the video.
I now prefer the video I have. I am slightly concerned about the order of the clips but I am going to get feedback when I do a focus group to see if it is something I need to rearrange etc.

Editing: Adding Transitions

To make it clear between the different scenes I've decided to add transitions. In Bon Iver's videos there isn't fancy transitions only subtle, simple ones therefore I opted just for 'Fade to Black' for most of them.

Editing: Choosing the Car Journey Scene

I filmed three different options for the car journey scene. Once they were added I added different speed effects on each of them to see what worked best.

I then cut it down to the best two. After getting others to watch it I narrowed it down to first, and shorter one. I chose this one as the other option being set to a faster speed didn't sit right in the video and looked bizarre. The option I have gone for is much more suitable as it is slow, like the music and the overall video.

Editing: Cutting Down Footage

I started to cut down the footage to the sort of lengths that is appropriate, and to get rid of the pauses when filming. I also cut it down to  make sure that between clips there isn't a jump. Although I have cut it down for no jumps if there is one present, as in Indie Folk videos they normally have a hand held sort of feel to them, which makes them more homemade and personal it wouldn't be a bad thing.
There is still more cutting down to do for more precise editing later down the line.

Editing: Adding Footage to iMovie

Once I had imported all of the footage into iMovie I then put the footage into the correct order that it is shown on my storyboard.
As it is a music video I then muted each clip ready for when I add the audio.
I am now going to start cutting down the footage etc.

Research & Planning: Final Image Choice for Digipak

I have narrowed it down to two images to choose from.
To get the final decision I have created a Survey Monkey to decide between the two.

Here is screen shots of me creating it. Once I have feedback I will update this post and have my final image to start editing.

Update: After creating it and previewing it I saw that I had accidentally added two of the same questions instead of the one so I went back and changed it to make it right with only one question.

Final Update
After getting peers and putting it out onto my Tumblr with over 4,600 followers to reach a wider audience I got my final decision. Tumblr is a good place to promote my research as majority are of my target audience -
Overall, out of the 14 responses I received 13 out of the 14 went for option B
Option B is -
Now that I have my final image I can start creating the digipak and then the magazine advert.

Research & Planning: Potential Images for Digipak

These are the images I have to chose from. I am going to do some primary research into what photo people prefer/think most suitable and from there chose the top two. Edit them both and then get some more feedback to choose my final image and make any changes needed.
